Join us for a night of jazz music presented by the SHS Jazz Ensemble, SHS Big Band and SJHS Jazz Ensemble as they present their first ever Winter Jazz Concert on January 25th at 7:00pm in the Sycamore High School Little Theater.  The Sycamore Music Department’s Jazz Program is under the direction of Mr. Jordan VonWahlde and is an extracurricular activity open to members of the Sycamore Band Program.  The Jazz Program is comprised of three bands. The Sycamore High School Jazz Ensemble is a “traditional” jazz ensemble with trumpet, trombone, saxophone and rhythm section and students are accepted into the band through audition.  The Sycamore High School Big Band is a non auditioned group and is open to any student in the Sycamore Band that is interested in learning about and playing jazz music.  The instruments found in this band reflect the traditional jazz band but also include “non-traditional” jazz instruments as well.  This allows all students the opportunity, regardless of what instrument they play, to experience jazz music in a band setting. The Sycamore Junior High School Jazz Ensemble is a non auditioned group and is open to all Junior High Band members.  While the core of the JH Jazz Band is comprised of traditional jazz instruments it, like the SHS Big Band, is also open to any student regardless of what instrument they may play.
